Start by setting your oven to 220°C. Use parchment paper or foil to line a baking sheet that measures 38x25x2.5 cm.
02 -
In a big skillet on medium heat, fry the bacon strips until they’re crispy—this should take around 10 minutes. After cooking, put them on a paper towel to soak up the extra grease. Once they're cool, chop or crumble the bacon and set it aside. Don't forget to discard the leftover fat from the skillet.
03 -
In that same skillet, toss in the ground beef and the chopped onion. Cook it over medium heat, breaking the meat apart as it cooks, until it's browned—about 10 minutes should do it. Drain any excess fat, take it off the heat, then add salt, garlic powder, pepper, and the cooked bacon. Stir in the Jack cheese, ketchup, and mustard until the cheese melts right in.
04 -
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to make a rectangle measuring 38x25 cm. Spread the beef mixture evenly on the dough, but leave a 1.5 cm border all the way around. Top that with the chopped pickles and banana peppers, then sprinkle the cheddar cheese over everything.
05 -
Starting from one of the long sides, roll the dough tightly around the filling. Pinch the seam and ends to seal everything inside. Move that roll seam-side down onto your prepared baking sheet.
06 -
In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it all over the dough's surface. If you want, toss on some coarse sea salt and sesame seeds on top.
07 -
Pop it in the oven and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until it turns a nice deep golden brown. If it starts to brown too fast, you can cover it loosely with foil.
08 -
Once it’s done, transfer it to a cutting board and let it cool for at least 10 minutes. Then, slice it into pieces about 2.5 cm thick and enjoy it warm.
