01 -
Turn your oven on and let it warm up to 400°F.
02 -
In a big skillet, toss in the ground beef with a small pat of margarine or butter. Cook it on medium-high, breaking it into small pieces while it cooks.
03 -
Once the beef is fully browned, drain out the grease. Stir in the chopped onions and keep cooking for a few minutes, giving it a stir now and then.
04 -
Take the skillet off the stove. Add in the bacon pieces, mayo, ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, and onion seasoning. Stir thoroughly to mix everything together.
05 -
Grease a 9 x 13 inch dish. Butter 6 bread slices and cut them into halves. Put the buttered halves, butter side down, across the bottom of your dish.
06 -
Scatter 2 cups of the shredded cheese right on top of your bread layer.
07 -
Spoon the prepared meat mixture evenly over the cheese layer.
08 -
Use up the remaining 2 cups of shredded cheese and sprinkle that evenly over the meat layer.
09 -
Butter the remaining 6 slices of bread, cut them in halves, and place those halves butter side up on top of the dish.
10 -
Put the dish into the preheated oven and bake it for 20 to 24 minutes until the bread layer on top turns golden brown.
11 -
Take the dish out of the oven and let it rest for a bit. Serve it up warm and enjoy every bite!
