Quick Beef & Pepper Bowl (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 2 cups (400g) cooked white or brown rice

→ Beef and Vegetables

02 - 1 lb (450g) beef (sirloin, flank steak, or ground beef)
03 - 2 bell peppers, thinly sliced
04 - 1 small onion, thinly sliced
05 - 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
06 - 2 garlic cloves, minced
07 - 1 tablespoon ginger, minced (optional)

→ Sauce

08 - 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce
09 - 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
10 - 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
11 - 1 tablespoon sesame oil
12 - 1 teaspoon sugar or honey
13 - 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
14 - 1/2 cup (120ml) beef or chicken broth

→ Garnish

15 - Sesame seeds
16 - Sliced green onions

# Instructions:

01 - If using steak, slice thinly against grain. Whisk together all sauce ingredients in a bowl.
02 - Heat 1 tablespoon oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook beef until browned, 3-6 minutes. Remove and set aside.
03 - Heat remaining oil. Cook garlic, ginger, onions, and peppers until tender-crisp, 3-4 minutes.
04 - Return beef to skillet, add sauce. Simmer 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
05 - Divide rice among bowls, top with beef mixture. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

# Notes:

01 - Can use chicken, shrimp, or tofu instead
02 - Add additional vegetables as desired
03 - Can thicken sauce with cornstarch slurry
