Cheese Sausage Egg Bake (Print Version)

Crispy layers of toasted bread, gooey cheese, seasoned sausage, and fluffy eggs come together in a warm, golden breakfast bake perfect for everyone.

# Ingredients:

→ Meats

01 - 1 lb ground pork sausage

→ Dairy

02 - 8 tablespoons butter, split
03 - 12 slices of American processed cheese
04 - 1 cup whole milk, separated
05 - 18 large eggs, split up

→ Baking & Spices

06 - 1/2 tsp black pepper, coarsely ground
07 - 1/4 tsp coarse salt
08 - 1/2 tsp mustard powder

→ Bread

09 - 12 slices of thick-cut Texas toast

# Steps:

01 - Turn the oven on to 375°F (190°C) to get it up to temperature.
02 - Toss the pork sausage into a big pan and cook it over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes, stirring and breaking into bits as it browns. Scoop out the cooked meat and drain off the grease.
03 - Put a tablespoon of butter in the pan and let it melt over medium. In a small bowl, whisk together 10 eggs, 1/4 cup of milk, salt, and pepper. Pour the mix into the pan and gently stir until the eggs are just set.
04 - Grab a 9x13 baking pan and place 6 slices of Texas toast along the bottom. Add a slice of American cheese on top of each piece of bread.
05 - Spread the sausage and scrambled eggs across the bread. Lay another slice of American cheese on top.
06 - In a medium bowl, mix the remaining 8 eggs with 3/4 cup of milk and the mustard powder. Carefully pour the mixture over everything in the pan to soak through.
07 - Place the last 6 slices of Texas toast on top to finish your layers.
08 - Melt the rest of the butter (3 tablespoons) and lightly brush it over the top layer of bread.
09 - Wrap the pan with foil and bake it for 20 minutes.
10 - Take off the foil and put it back in the oven for another 20 minutes until golden.
