In a large bowl, using an electric or stand mixer, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and vanilla extract until combined.

Using a spatula, fold in M&Ms until evenly distributed.

Using a cookie scoop, portion dough into balls about 2 tablespoons each and place them onto the prepared baking sheets.

Bake for 10 minutes, then rotate the baking sheet clockwise and continue baking for an additional 4-5 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

Remove cookies from the oven and immediately place additional M&Ms on top. Allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
