Preheat the oven to 350˚F (180˚C).

In a large bowl, add the ripe bananas and mash with the back of a fork until smooth. Add in the oil and stir until well combined.

Add the sugar, apple sauce, vanilla, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until the batter is evenly combined.

Add in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and mix. Pour the batter into a greased 9×5 loaf pan, then sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

Bake for 55 minutes to an hour, until a toothpick comes out clean.

Let the bread cool completely before slicing and serving.
