Prepare an 8x8-inch pan by lining it with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, melt butter.

Add cocoa powder and vanilla extract to the melted butter. Whisk until smooth.

Add brown sugar and eggs to the mixture. Whisk or beat with an electric mixer until combined.

Add flour and salt, then beat again until smooth.

Stir in half of the chocolate chips. Reserve the remaining chocolate chips for topping.

Transfer the batter to your prepared pan.

Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top, pressing them gently into the batter.
