Pour milk over the sugar mixture without stirring. Cut butter into cubes and place them on top of the milk.

Lightly cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a paper towel. Microwave on high for 3–5 minutes until butter is completely melted, checking progress every minute after the 3-minute mark.
