Line the slow cooker with a liner or grease thoroughly to prevent sticking.

Place stew beef, red wine, onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, and quartered mushrooms in a bowl. Mix until ingredients are evenly coated.

Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low heat for 10–13 hours until beef is tender.
