Crispy Strawberry Dessert Sandwiches (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Sandwiches

01 - 8 slices of brioche or challah bread
02 - 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
03 - 2 tablespoons (25g) powdered sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
05 - 1 cup (150g) fresh strawberries, sliced

→ For the Coating

06 - 2 eggs
07 - 1/4 cup (60ml) milk
08 - 1 tablespoon (12g) granulated sugar
09 - 1/2 teaspoon (1g) ground cinnamon (optional)
10 - 3 tablespoons (45g) butter or vegetable oil for frying

# Instructions:

01 - In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
02 - Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture onto four slices of bread. Evenly distribute the sliced strawberries over the filling, then top with the remaining bread slices, pressing gently to seal the edges.
03 - In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, and cinnamon (if using) until well combined.
04 - Heat butter or oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Quickly dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly but not soaking. Place in the hot pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
05 - Remove sandwiches from the pan and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm, with a dusting of powdered sugar, chocolate drizzle, or whipped cream if desired.

# Notes:

01 - Use thick, sturdy bread like brioche or challah that won't fall apart when dipped in the egg mixture.
02 - Only dip the sandwiches briefly in the egg mixture - too long will make them soggy and difficult to cook properly.
03 - Maintain medium heat for even cooking - too hot and the outside will burn before the filling warms through.
