Frosted Sugar Cookie Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
02 - 8 oz cream cheese, softened
03 - 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
04 - 1 large egg
05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - ½ teaspoon almond extract
07 - 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
08 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
09 - ½ teaspoon baking soda

→ Frosting

10 - ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
11 - 4 oz cream cheese, softened
12 - 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
13 - 3-5 tablespoons milk
14 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
15 - Food coloring or icing paste

# Instructions:

01 - In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, beat the butter, cream cheese, sugar, and egg until frothy, about 4 minutes. Add the vanilla and almond extract and beat for 1 minute more.
02 - In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix until well incorporated.
03 - Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and beat for about 2 minutes.
04 - Press the dough into a large jelly roll pan (cookie sheet) and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes. Let the pan cool completely.
05 - In a medium-sized bowl or stand mixer, beat the butter and cream cheese for about 2 minutes.
06 - Add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract and mix for 1-2 minutes or until smooth.
07 - Separate the frosting into smaller bowls and add food coloring or icing paste to each bowl as desired.
08 - Frost the pan of cookie bars using each different color.
09 - Cut the frosted sugar cookie bars into squares and serve.

# Notes:

01 - Use any combination of food coloring or icing paste to create multiple colors for your frosting.
02 - To reduce calories per serving, cut the bars smaller instead of the recommended 20 large portions.
