Warm up the butter and olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and let it cook for about a minute or two until you can smell it.

Toss the shrimp into the pan, season them with some pepper and salt, and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until they turn opaque and pink. Move them to a plate and set aside.

Pour the cream into the pan and mix in the Parmesan. Let it cook gently over low heat until it begins to thicken, stirring every now and then.

Put the shrimp back in the pan and coat them with the thick, cheesy sauce. Sprinkle the chopped parsley on top and mix lightly.

Spoon the shrimp and creamy sauce over the cooked rice while still warm. Serve it right away.
