Cheesy Mozzarella Rings (Print Version)

Crisp onion rings stuffed with gooey mozzarella. Double-breaded for crunch and best enjoyed freshly fried.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Components

01 - 8 sticks of mozzarella cheese
02 - 1 onion, cut into thick rings
03 - 1 beaten egg
04 - 1 cup of milk
05 - Toothpicks to hold everything together
06 - 2 cups of oil for frying
07 - 1 cup of Panko crumbs

→ Dry Ingredients

08 - 1 cup of regular flour
09 - A teaspoon of salt
10 - 1 teaspoon of baking powder

# Steps:

01 - Take two onion slices and make a pair, using one smaller slice inside a larger one. Fill the space between the two rings with cheese and secure with toothpicks.
02 - Pour oil into a pot and preheat it. Mix baking powder, salt, and flour in a bowl. Coat the assembled onion-cheese rings in this blend, then set them aside on a rack.
03 - Whisk milk and egg together. Stir that into the leftover dry mixture until everything blends into a batter.
04 - Dip each ring into the batter, letting any extra drip off. Then coat it with breadcrumbs and place it back on the rack.
05 - Drop the rings in hot oil, frying till golden. Flip them once halfway through. Drain on paper towels when done.
06 - Pull out the toothpicks before serving. Pair them with marinara for dipping and serve while hot.

# Notes and Tips:

01 - Each bite delivers crunchy onion stuffed with gooey cheese—best enjoyed fresh from the fryer!
02 - To avoid cheese leaking, keep it secured with toothpicks until after frying.
03 - Want more crunch? Coat the rings twice by repeating the flour, batter, and breadcrumbs steps.
