Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a large bowl, mix together the butter, light brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk the flour and salt together. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Fold in the crushed pecans and chocolate chips.

Scoop dough into 1-tablespoon-sized balls or use a medium cookie scoop. Place them 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet. Press a pecan onto the top of each cookie.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden. Optionally, sprinkle with granulated sugar after baking. Allow to cool before serving.
