The Perfect Apple Gazette (Print Version)

Flaky puff pastry wraps spiced apples, baked until golden and served warm with your favorite garnishes.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry, thawed
02 - 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
03 - 1/2 cup sugar
04 - 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
05 - 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
06 - 1 tablespoon lemon juice
07 - 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
08 - 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
09 - Vanilla bean ice cream (optional, for garnishing)
10 - 2 tablespoons caramel (optional, for garnishing)
11 - Brown sugar for sprinkling (optional)

# Steps:

01 - Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to remove any creases. Transfer it to a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
02 - In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Arrange the apple slices on the puff pastry, leaving about a 2.5 cm (1-inch) border.
03 - Fold the puff pastry edges up and over the apples to create a border. Brush the beaten egg over the crust. Dot the top of the apples with small pieces of butter and sprinkle the crust and apple tops lightly with additional sugar.
04 - Bake the galette in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown and the apples are tender.
05 - Transfer the baking sheet to a wire rack and let the galette cool for a few minutes. Slide it onto a serving plate using a large spatula or carefully invert the baking sheet over a plate to unmold. Serve warm or at room temperature.

# Notes and Tips:

01 - Optionally, serve with vanilla bean ice cream and caramel drizzle for added flavor.
