Vegan French Toast Homemade (Print Version)

Crispy, golden vegan French toast with a custard- like center. Simple to prepare with plant-based pantry staples.

01 - 4 slices bread of choice
02 - 1/3 cup mashed banana or coconut cream, or 2 flax eggs
03 - 1/4 tsp salt
04 - 3 tbsp milk of choice
05 - 1 tbsp sweetener of choice
06 - Sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)
07 - 2 tsp nutritional yeast (optional, for flavor)

# Steps:

01 - Dry out the bread by letting it sit uncovered overnight or baking the slices at 300°F (150°C) for 15 minutes, or until they dry out, unless you prefer a soggier texture.
02 - Whisk the mashed banana or coconut cream, or flax eggs with salt, milk, sweetener, and optional cinnamon and nutritional yeast in a mixing bowl.
03 - Dip each slice of bread fully into the batter mixture. Place them in a shallow dish, pour any remaining liquid over the slices, and soak for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even absorption.
04 - Heat a greased nonstick pan over medium heat. Place the soaked bread slices in the pan and cook for 1 1/2 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another minute or until each side is lightly browned. Repeat with the remaining slices.
