Homemade Cornmeal Fish Fry Mix (Print Version)

Crispy, seasoned cornmeal coating brings sharp flavor and crunch to fried fish and southern comfort classics.

# Ingredients:

→ Cornmeal Coating Mix

01 - 1 ¾ cups white or yellow cornmeal
02 - ¼ cup flour
03 - 1 tablespoon paprika
04 - 2 teaspoons salt
05 - 2 teaspoons lemon pepper
06 - ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
07 - Optional: ½ teaspoon garlic powder
08 - Optional: ½ teaspoon onion powder

# Steps:

01 - Place all ingredients in a plastic bowl with a lid or in a brown paper lunch bag. Shake vigorously to mix all ingredients.
02 - Drop cleaned and washed fish fillets into the bowl or bag filled with cornmeal mix and shake vigorously again to coat.
03 - Drop fish into canola or peanut oil heated to 375° Fahrenheit and deep fry for 5-7 minutes or until fish is golden brown.

# Notes and Tips:

01 - For an extra flavor kick, add ½ teaspoon garlic powder and ½ teaspoon onion powder to your cornmeal mix.
