Quick Asian-inspired noodle dish (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 3 packages Ramen noodles
02 - 3 tablespoons olive oil (or cooking oil of choice)
03 - 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs (optional)
04 - 1 onion, diced
05 - kosher salt, pepper
06 - 6 to 7 cloves garlic, minced
07 - 1/3 cup Bachan's Japanese BBQ sauce (or you can use hoisin sauce)
08 - 2 tablespoons soy sauce
09 - 1 to 2 tablespoons sriracha
10 - 4 tablespoons butter
11 - 1 bunch green onions

→ Optional Toppings

12 - Sesame seeds
13 - More Japanese BBQ sauce
14 - Yum yum sauce

# Instructions:

01 - Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the ramen noodles according to package directions. Discard the flavor packets as you won't be using them. Once cooked, drain the noodles and rinse thoroughly with cold water to stop the cooking process and prevent them from becoming mushy.
02 - Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. When hot, add the olive oil. If using chicken, add it along with the diced onion, and season with kosher salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is starting to brown and the onions are becoming translucent.
03 - Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then add the cooked and drained ramen noodles, Japanese BBQ sauce (or hoisin sauce), soy sauce, sriracha, and butter to the pan.
04 - Cook everything together for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently and occasionally pressing down on the noodles with your spatula to help them crisp up slightly. This creates those delicious caramelized bits that add great texture and flavor.
05 - Add the chopped green onions and cook for another 1-2 minutes until they're just softened but still bright green. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds, additional Japanese BBQ sauce, or yum yum sauce if desired.

# Notes:

01 - This dish can easily be made vegetarian by omitting the chicken and using vegetable broth instead of the flavor packets.
02 - Bachan's Japanese BBQ sauce gives this dish its distinctive flavor, but hoisin sauce makes a good substitute if you can't find it.
03 - You can add vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, or broccoli for extra nutrition - just add them with the onions.
